Withrow Ball Hockey Alum representing Canada

A big congratulations goes out to Withrow Ball Hockey alum Serena Vilde after being named to Canada’s national women’s ball hockey team.

The team’s General Manager Sara Hayward stated that “putting together a team of this caliber is not an easy task given the amount of talent across the country.”

Serena, 21, started playing with the Withrow league in the early days of the girls division, playing in net for the All-Star team each year. She also put in many hours for the league. She refereed, worked in the equipment room and was a coach for U8 girls.

In 2019, Serena helped Team Ontario win gold at the Canadian National Ball Hockey Championship in the U19 B division.

She is currently a goalie for the York University women’s varsity hockey team.

Team Canada will compete at the 2022 ISBHF World Championships in Laval, Quebec.

Well done, Serena!
