WPBHL launches First Shots Diversity Initiative

This year Withrow Park Ball Hockey League is introducing a diversity and inclusion initiative called “First Shots” to ensure that the diversity of our community is well-represented. This initiative will be piloted in 2021 and will include:

• Working with local community groups to ensure interested players have access to the league
• Providing opportunities for players with financial barriers that may limit their ability to participate due to the cost of league fees and equipment
• Increasing participation by players, parent volunteers and board members

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS PEER MENTOR PROGRAM

A key part to the success of this program will have High School Students be leaders/ambassadors of our WPBHL community. They will be paired with new players to welcome them and provide regular support and guidance throughout the season. Students will also help run introductory skills and rules clinics.
